Product details

Background & context

The three-digit turret number was a tank company's address book: the first digit stood for the company, the second for the platoon, the third for the vehicle within the platoon. The company commander led the way with a zero, the battalion staff with Roman numerals. Because a platoon commander led in action by radio and line of sight, the number had to stay legible through dust and smoke as well, hence the bold outlines.

On the tabletop

This sheet offers turret numbers in three styles: black, white and outline-only. That way you can pick the version with the best contrast for light and dark schemes alike. The three-digit number follows a fixed order: the first digit is the company, the second the platoon, the third the individual vehicle. It lets you number the tanks of your German army just like the originals.
