    Description

    The final production version of the Panzer IV in 1:56. The kit has hatches that can be posed open, a fitting aid for the side skirts (Schürzen), stowage and two crew figures on board.

    Background & context

    The Ausf. J was produced from June 1944 and is a piece of war economy in sheet metal. The auxiliary motor for turret traverse was dropped and its place taken by an additional fuel tank for more range, so from then on the crew had to turn the turret by hand. Later, road wheels were economised on and the sheet-metal side skirts were replaced with wire mesh, which worked in a similar way and saved material. Even so, the Panzer IV remained the numerical backbone of the Panzer divisions to the very end.

    On the tabletop

    The Ausf. J is the Panzer IV from June 1944, and it remained the most numerous tank of the German panzer divisions until the end of the war. In games of this period several of them form the core of your German tank platoon, with Panthers and Tigers only added singly. Because the turret was traversed by hand it turned more slowly, so targets on the flank take time. Skirts with an assembly jig, stowage and open hatches with two crew figures are included.
