Hintergrund & Einordnung

The German 8cm Granatwerfer 34 was the standard mortar model of the Wehrmacht and was used by all branches of the armed forces-from regular infantry to paratroopers to the Waffen-SS-on almost all fronts. Its combination of relative portability (in three parts: baseplate, barrel, bipod) and high firepower (15-20 rounds per minute, 2,400-meter range) made it an indispensable component of every infantry unit. Experienced troops particularly valued its ability to suppress entrenched enemies with plunging fire-an advantage mechanically represented in Bolt Action by ignoring cover bonuses.

Medium mortars are a core component of heavy weapons platoons in Bolt Action, offering indirect fire that ignores cover - one of the most valuable tactical advantages in the game. With a spotter, the team can control huge sections of the battlefield and effectively engage enemy infantry even behind walls or inside buildings. The veteran crew benefits from increased morale and steadfastness, making the team particularly reliable in providing fire support.
