    Background & context

    Only 415 Jagdpanthers left the production lines between January 1944 and the end of the war, astonishingly few for a design that got everything right on paper. It had the firepower of the Tiger II's gun, the running gear and engine of the Panther, and a low, enclosed fighting compartment. The split into G1 and G2 is more bookkeeping than reality: mantlet, barrel and engine deck changed bit by bit, and a shortage of spare parts turned many vehicles into hybrids. The move of the tools from the hull side to the rear went back to experience gained in Normandy.

    On the tabletop

    The Jagdpanther combines the 8.8 cm PaK 43 with the running gear and engine of the Panther. In your German force of 1944 and 1945 it engages enemy tanks at long range, on the Eastern Front as well as in the West. Since the gun sits in a fixed superstructure, you turn the whole vehicle towards the enemy and leave infantry to guard its flanks. Built as a G1 or G2, it also offers a choice of three mantlets, two barrels and several exhaust styles.
