Background & context

The late Panzer IIIs are the story of a chassis whose opponents outpaced it. The Ausf. H received the 5cm L/42 and wider tracks to carry the extra weight, the Ausf. J a longer hull, and the Ausf. L at last the long 5cm L/60. From May 1943 side skirts hung on hull and turret, five and ten millimetres of plate respectively against the Soviet 14.5mm anti-tank rifle round. The Ausf. N swapped its tank gun for the short 7.5cm of the old Panzer IV and from then on lent the infantry a hand.

On the tabletop

The late Panzer III covers the years up to 1943, and you decide its job during assembly. The Ausf. H and J with the 5 cm L/42 gun and the L and M with the long L/60 fight enemy vehicles. The Ausf. N with its short 7.5 cm gun supports the infantry instead. Skirts on hull and turret belong on vehicles from May 1943, and a jig helps you fit them straight. Stowage and open hatches with crew are included.
