    Background & context

DEMAG developed the SdKfz 250 as a light half-track that resembles the larger 251 at first glance but is considerably shorter. It reached the troops from mid-1941, but because of its complicated armoured hull it was in short supply for a long time. The Neu version combined the many angled individual plates and so cut production time noticeably. The type served mainly with reconnaissance battalions and Panzergrenadiers, across every theatre of the war.

    On the tabletop

From October 1943 the simplified Neu version replaced the early SdKfz 250, which places it with German forces of the last war years. With reconnaissance units and panzergrenadiers it carries a small scout section or the commanders forward. A driver, an MG gunner and an officer are included, so you can also show it as a command vehicle. Its armour protects against nothing heavier than small-arms fire and splinters. Every Rubicon expansion set for the SdKfz 250 fits this chassis.
