    Product details

    Background & context

From March 1942 the Wehrmacht fielded the SdKfz 250/9 because the light wheeled armoured cars got stuck too often in the Russian mud. Thirty vehicles went to the Eastern Front at first, armed with a 2 cm KwK 38 and a coaxial MG in the open turret of the SdKfz 222. The concept proved itself, and series production began in May 1943. Later the SdKfz 251/23 on the medium chassis was to take over the role, with the turret of the heavy wheeled armoured car SdKfz 234/1.

    On the tabletop

The open turret with its 2 cm cannon turns your half-tracks into armed reconnaissance vehicles. From 1942 the SdKfz 250/9 replaced the wheeled armoured cars on the Eastern Front, which got stuck in the mud too often. You turn its rapid-firing cannon and coaxial machine gun on light vehicles and infantry caught without cover. The parts cover one 250/9 Alte plus either a 250/9 Neu or the later 251/23. The base vehicles are not included.
