    This expansion set for Rubicon's SdKfz 250 and SdKfz 251 kits provides all the necessary parts to build either an SdKfz 250/8 Neu or an SdKfz 251/9 Stummel - including the distinctive 75mm short-barrel howitzer and four crew figures with detailed interior.

    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The SdKfz 251/9 - popularly known as the 'Stummel' (stump) - carried a short 75mm howitzer on a mount identical to that of the StuG III. From 1942, it was used in large numbers on the Eastern Front, initially based on the Ausf C, later the Ausf D. At the end of 1944, a revised modular weapon station with a coaxial MG42 was added, which was also adopted for the SdKfz 250/8. The Stummel primarily served armored reconnaissance units and Panzergrenadiers as direct fire support against infantry and light emplacements. The smaller SdKfz 250/8 was the corresponding variant on the halved chassis, whose series production began in 1944 on the basis of the new chassis.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    The stubby expansion set brings short 7.5cm support weapons to the SdKfz 250 or 251. In-game, it is suitable for mobile fire support against infantry, light vehicles and targets in cover. The platform is useful, but vulnerable if it advances too far without support.
