    The Hanomag with the angular hexagonal front: at Rubicon the Ausf C is the base kit on which all the 251 expansions build. Two sprues, interior, driver figure and a choice between MG34 and MG42.

    Background & context

    Hanomag developed the SdKfz 251 as an armoured carrier for the Panzergrenadiers, and more than 15,000 vehicles of all versions were built. The Ausf C went into production in mid-1942 and brought simplified, hexagonal nose armour for the engine compartment. Its many sloped plates kept out small-arms fire, but the open fighting compartment remained the weak spot. Dozens of special variants were derived from the basic vehicle, from the radio vehicle to the engineer vehicle.

    On the tabletop

    Behind its armour the half-track carries a squad of your panzergrenadiers up to the enemy, protected from small-arms fire. Once the men have dismounted, the machine gun gives them fire support, either as an MG34 or an MG42. The Ausf. C with its hexagonal nose plate entered production in mid-1942 and suits actions of the middle war years. At Rubicon it is the base vehicle for every SdKfz 251 expansion, and you build the rear door and canvas top open or closed.
