    Description

The schwere Panzerbüchse 41 was a dead end in weapons technology: brutally effective, but dependent on scarce tungsten. This sprue puts it on your half-tracks and adds a weapons team that can do without a vehicle.

    • 1 conversion kit for an SdKfz 250/11 variant with 2.8cm sPzB 41 (plastic)

    Product details

    Background & context

The 2.8cm sPzB 41 worked with a tapered bore: the projectile was squeezed as it passed through and left the muzzle so fast that it penetrated armour plate far thicker than its own calibre. The price was a tungsten core, and tungsten became scarce in Germany early on, so the weapon disappeared from service along with its ammunition. The SdKfz 250/11 carried it together with a carriage for dismounted use, and individual SdKfz 251/7 engineer vehicles received it too.

    On the tabletop

This expansion set turns an SdKfz 250/1 Alte into the 250/11 tank hunter and an SdKfz 251 into the 251/7 engineer vehicle with bridging ramps. The heavy anti-tank rifle 41 gives your German force a weapon against lightly armoured vehicles. Because the carriage travelled in the vehicle, a separate weapon team for dismounted use is also included. Tungsten for its ammunition ran short, so the weapon belongs in the early and middle war years. The base vehicles are needed in addition.
