    Beschreibung

    The expansion set converts the SdKfz 251/1 into the feared Flammpanzerwagen 251/16 - either the early Ausf C with an additional rear flamethrower or the later Ausf D. Six of these vehicles were standard equipment for a Panzergrenadier regiment and were particularly used in night counterattacks against enemy infantry.

    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The SdKfz 251/16 is based on the proven SdKfZ 251/1 and was equipped with two side-mounted flamethrowers. The early C variant also featured a removable rear flamethrower that could be operated by dismounted infantry. The flame tanks were primarily intended for close-range and pioneer operations. Despite their vulnerability, they proved extremely effective, especially in nighttime counterattacks - they struck before the enemy could fortify newly captured positions.

    The SdKfz 251/16 expansion set converts a basic 251 kit into a flame-throwing armoured vehicle. In the game, this role is intended for close ranges, building combat, and clearing tough infantry positions. It is important to classify it clearly as a flamethrower vehicle, not as an anti-aircraft or anti-tank vehicle.
