Product details

Background & context

Heavy Panzer battalions were the fire brigade of the Panzerwaffe: independent units with Tigers that were moved to wherever a front was ablaze. Because they were constantly being attached to different divisions, they needed a clearly visible recognition sign of their own, and the 505 carried a charging knight on the hull. The 501 went to Tunisia in 1943, the 503 was at Kursk, the 505 in the central sector of the Eastern Front.

On the tabletop

This sheet provides insignia and tactical markings for heavy tank battalions 501 to 505. These battalions fielded Tigers and were attached to different divisions as the situation demanded, which is why they carried their own conspicuous emblems. If you want to show a Tiger as part of such a battalion, apply the matching sign to the hull or turret. A second sheet covers battalions 506 to 510.
