Product details

Background & context

The first Panzer divisions were formed from 1935 and in the field carried no coats of arms in the classic sense, but plain line symbols: bars, chevrons, dots, usually stencilled on in yellow or white. The reason was simple: a sign had to be on in two seconds with a stencil and be recognisable from fifty metres. The 7th Panzer Division made headlines in France in 1940 as the Ghost Division, because it advanced faster than its own command could locate it.

On the tabletop

The divisional signs of the 1st to 7th Panzer Divisions assign your 1:56 scale German vehicle to one of the early formations. These divisions were raised from 1935 and used simple symbols of bars, angles or dots, mostly in yellow or white. Apply them to the hull or turret after painting so your tank carries a unit and not just a camouflage scheme. Two further sheets cover the higher numbers.
