    Background & context

    The Panzer IV was the only German tank built continuously from 1939 to 1945, a good 8,500 in all. The break in its career came in spring 1942: the Ausf. F2 received the long 7.5cm KwK 40, and with that it swapped roles with the Panzer III, the support vehicle becoming the troops' tank killer. The Ausf. G upgraded the barrel, and the Ausf. H strengthened the bow armour and hung side skirts on hull and turret because Soviet anti-tank rifles were penetrating the flanks.

    On the tabletop

    This kit shows the Panzer IV during the period when it changed from support tank to the tank killer of the panzer troops. As an Ausf. F1 with the short gun it supports the infantry, and from the F2 of spring 1942 it carries the long 7.5 cm gun against enemy tanks. The Ausf. G and H belong to the middle and late war years, the H with skirts on hull and turret that you fit using the jig. Two crew figures and decals are included.
