    Product details

    Background & context

In 1944 the German armoured reconnaissance battalions were running out of armoured cars, and half-tracks were too thinly armoured at the front. So the open 2 cm turret of the Hängelafette, familiar from the SdKfz 250/9, was set on the Czech 38(t) chassis. Only a few dozen were built, and they reached the units late. The version modelled here uses the hull of the Bergepanzerwagen 38, as it came together in the workshops of the last months of the war.

    On the tabletop

This single resin part turns two Rubicon kits into the Aufklärungspanzer 38(t), a Bergepanzerwagen 38 carrying the open 2 cm Hängelafette turret. You need both the Jagdpanzer 38(t) 280030 and the SdKfz 250/9 and 251/23 expansion set 280048. On the table it scouts for your German armoured reconnaissance of 1944 and 1945, and its 2 cm cannon deals with infantry and light vehicles. Only a few dozen were built, so it remains a rare vehicle.
