Product details

Background & context

Not every US star was white. In the early operations in the Mediterranean, yellow versions appeared before the white marking established itself as standard. Later the trend went the other way: a bright star on a tank hull made an excellent aiming point in action, so crews dulled it down, half painted it over or had it applied in subdued grey from the outset. Both variants sit side by side here.

On the tabletop

Not every American star was white. Use the yellow stars on this sheet for vehicles from the early operations in the Mediterranean, and the dark grey ones for vehicles whose crews later deliberately toned the marking down. The marking thus fixes which phase of the war your 1:56 vehicle belongs to. Apply the decals to the hull and turret after painting.
