    Background & context

    Als 1941 auffiel, dass den US-Truppen jede bewegliche Panzerabwehr fehlte, griff man zur naheliegenden Lösung: eine 75-mm-Kanone französischer Herkunft, montiert auf die Ladefläche der M3-Halbkette. Die Bedienung stand dabei fast ungeschützt hinter einem schmalen Schild. Auf den Philippinen, in Tunesien und in Italien schlug sich das Fahrzeug besser als erwartet. Erst spezialisierte Jagdpanzer wie der M10 nahmen ihm die Rolle wieder ab.

    On the tabletop

    The M3 75mm GMC puts a 75 mm gun on the cargo bed of the M3 half-track, which made it the first mobile anti-tank weapon of American forces. It suits actions in the Philippines, Tunisia and Italy, before specialised tank destroyers took over its role. The crew stands almost unprotected behind a narrow shield, so you are best off firing from cover at approaching vehicles. The box contains the plastic half-track kit and the conversion set with gun and crew.
