Background & context

The Stuart grew out of the M2 Light Tank, was given thicker armour and a reworked running gear, and came off the production line in large numbers from 1941. British crews in North Africa christened it Honey because it was so willing to drive, but from 1942 preferred to send it on reconnaissance rather than against German tanks. In the Pacific the picture was reversed: against Japanese infantry short of anti-tank weapons, the light Stuart was often the decisive weapon in the jungle.

On the tabletop

In Bolt Action the M3 Stuart is a light tank that the USA, Britain, the Soviet Union and China can all field. Being fast, it is used for scouting and for pushing round a flank, as the British did from 1942, rather than being matched against heavy tanks. In jungle fighting it does well against Japanese infantry that lacks anti-tank weapons. During assembly you choose a rounded or angular turret and add machine guns, a flamethrower, external fuel tanks or sand guards.
