Background & context

The idea could hardly have been simpler: put a gun on a truck and you have a mobile tank destroyer. 5,380 M6s were built this way from 1942, but as early as Tunisia it became clear that the 37 mm was too weak against German tanks and the open load bed too dangerous for the crew. By 1943 the type had already vanished from the tables, and most vehicles were converted back and ran as ordinary WC52s again. With the Marines in the Pacific it stayed useful for longer, because Japanese tanks were thin-skinned.

On the tabletop

The M6 Fargo carries a 37 mm anti-tank gun with shield on the cargo bed of a Dodge, making it an early mobile anti-tank weapon of the US Army. In actions of 1942 and 1943 it engages lightly armoured targets, while against stronger German tanks the gun was already struggling in Tunisia. Because the crew stands exposed on the open bed, you fire from cover and then change position. Four figures are included: driver, officer, gunner and loader.
