    Product details

    Background & context

The Sturmgeschütz III came about as an infantry support weapon on a turretless Panzer III chassis: cheap, low, easy to camouflage. With the long 7.5cm StuK 40 it took on a second role from 1942, that of tank destroyer. The Ausf. G was by a wide margin the most common version and in the end stood in almost every German division. Where more explosive effect against infantry was needed, the StuH 42 with its 10.5cm howitzer took the same place.

    On the tabletop

Its low, turretless superstructure makes the assault gun a vehicle for ambushes in Bolt Action: put it in cover, where it is hard to hit, and wait for enemy tanks. As a StuG III Ausf. G it fights tanks with the long 7.5 cm gun, as a StuH 42 with the 10.5 cm howitzer it supports your own infantry with high-explosive shells. It fits German army lists on every front. Achtung Panzer! has rules for it as well.
