Background & context

The German Fallschirmjäger were the first airborne troops to be used on a large scale: Eben Emael, Norway, Crete. After the heavy losses on Crete in 1941 hardly any of them jumped again; they fought on as elite infantry on the ground and at Monte Cassino were given the name Green Devils by the Allies. In the last year of the war they stood in the Ardennes and on the Eastern Front, in winter camouflage and with scraped-together equipment.

On the tabletop

Intended for snowy tables: from the 36 Fallschirmjäger you first take the HQ using the command options, and the rest become squads whose mix of rifles, assault rifles, SMGs, light machine guns and Panzerfausts you decide when building. The four metal teams add specialists: 81mm mortar for indirect fire, Panzerschreck against vehicles, flamethrower for houses and bunkers, sniper for single targets. The PaK 40 holds one flank against tanks, the StuG III Ausf. G pushes over the other, and a squad rides along in the Sd.Kfz 251 Ausf. D, covered by the rear MMG.
