Product details

Background & context

Waffen-SS units were deployed on many fronts in the late war and were sometimes given modern equipment, including assault rifles, anti-tank weapons, and armoured vehicles. The force shown here combines infantry with heavy support and tank components. Historically, the Waffen-SS is inextricably linked to the Nazi regime and numerous war crimes. An objective classification is therefore particularly important, even if the models are used for tabletop scenarios.

On the tabletop

The platoon structure of the third edition sets the split here: the 36 infantry figures make a Rifle Platoon, the mortar and MG teams a Heavy Weapons Platoon. In the Rifle Platoon you distribute the men among squads and field the platoon commander, and the build options in the plastic kit give you plenty of freedom in weapons and poses. The PaK 40 is dug in as fixed anti-tank defence, the StuG III is its mobile counterpart, and the Sd.Kfz. 251/10 comes along as the commander's vehicle. This puts together a German late-war list with two anti-tank weapons, a command vehicle and plenty of infantry.
