    Product details

    Background & context

From late summer 1942 the Tiger I went to the front, first near Leningrad, then in Tunisia, Italy, Russia and Normandy. Only a little over 1,300 were built, and measured against that it turns up in Allied after-action reports astonishingly often. Wherever a German tank fired from a distance, it became a Tiger. In reality it was a maintenance-hungry machine with a limited radius of action, though its 8.8cm KwK 36 penetrated almost anything facing it in open country.

    On the tabletop

Bolt Action rates the Tiger I as a heavy tank and its 8.8 cm gun as a super-heavy anti-tank weapon, and it serves in German armoured platoons from late summer 1942. The gun is effective against tanks at long range and also fires high-explosive shells, while the thick frontal armour makes your opponent look for its side or rear. It suits games around Leningrad, in North Africa, Italy, on the Eastern Front and in Normandy. Commander options and decals are included.
