    Product details

    Background & context

The Panzer IV was the workhorse of the Panzerwaffe: built in sufficient numbers, easy to maintain and, in the later versions with the long 7.5 cm KwK 40, a match for any standard Allied tank. The Tiger I stood for the opposite, a handful of vehicles with an 8.8 cm gun and heavy frontal armour that dominated in battle and ruined the workshops. The Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer was the sober answer to that: over 2,800 built on a Czech chassis, low, cheap and dangerous from ambush.

    On the tabletop

With the three Panzer IVs you have the choice between the Ausf. F1 with the short gun and the G or H with the long one. These three form the mobile part of your tank group, while the Tiger I, as the heavy anchor, soaks up hits and shoots back at range. You place the low-slung Hetzer in cover on a flank and wait until an opponent drives into its field of fire. The resin crew sit in the hatches or stand dismounted beside the vehicle, and the Tank Ace cards turn two vehicles into aces. In Bolt Action the same models serve as armoured support for your infantry.
