    Product details

    Background & context

The shock of 1941 was called the T-34: sloped armour, wide tracks and a gun that made the Panzer III and IV look dated. The Panther was the answer to it, and from the summer of 1943 the Ausf. A was the first version to be more or less technically sorted, with a new commander's cupola and a ball mount for the hull MG. The 7.5cm KwK 42 L/70 penetrated more at range than the Tiger's 8.8cm. Even so, the gearbox and final drives remained the weak point to the very end.

    On the tabletop

The Ausf. A is the second Panther version, built from mid 1943, and fits German army lists for the Eastern and Western fronts. In Bolt Action the Panther is a medium tank with a super-heavy anti-tank gun whose frontal armour is as tough as a heavy tank's. So show your opponent the front and keep the sides out of the line of fire. The model is resin with metal detail parts and side skirts, and Achtung Panzer! covers it too.
