    Product details

    Background & context

Achtung Panzer! is Warlord Games' tactical tank game, simulating engagements at the tank platoon level. "Blood & Steel" recreates a classic tank conflict on the Western Front in 1944/45: The German Panther (Pzkpfw V), with its long 7.5 cm KwK 42 L/70, was considered one of the most dangerous medium tanks of the war - it combined heavy frontal armor with excellent optics and deadly main armament. The Sherman Firefly, with its 17-pounder gun (76.2 mm), was the only Allied means produced in larger numbers capable of knocking out German heavy tanks like the Tiger and Panther frontally - typically, one Firefly was deployed per four regular Shermans in a tank troop to confuse observers. This duel characterized many engagements in Normandy, the Falaise Pocket, and Northwest Europe.

    On the tabletop

On the German side drive two Panther Ausf. A, facing two Sherman Vs and a Sherman Firefly Vc, with the two ruined farmhouses in between offering cover. The Blood & Steel scenario booklet sets out deployment and objective, and the Phase & Time Tracker records the phase and game time. Support, incidents and the abilities of individual crews come into play through the 20 Asset Cards, 52 Events Cards and 4 Tank Ace Skill Cards. The datacards provide the stats, and the damage markers track hits. The 108-page Achtung Panzer! rulebook is the complete version and also carries later games with more tanks.
