    Background & context

In the course of the war the Waffen-SS grew to more than 38 divisions and just under a million men, including formations from occupied and allied countries, the Handschar division from Bosnia for example. Its units were often better equipped than the Wehrmacht, which strained relations with regular troops. The documented war crimes for which they were responsible are equally part of the history of these formations. In the final years of the war SS grenadiers stood on the Eastern Front, in Normandy, in Italy and finally in Germany itself.

    On the tabletop

With 30 grenadiers of the middle and late war years you can field the infantry platoon of a Waffen-SS list in Bolt Action. Kar 98K, Gewehr 43 and MG 42 make rifle squads for the firefight, StG 44 and MP 40 make squads for close-range assaults. Command figures with binoculars or Mauser C96 lead the platoon, and the Panzerfaust protects it against tanks. The extra head options also let you build units of the Handschar division.
