The Sd.Kfz. 251 was the most widely produced German halftrack of World War II and the standard vehicle for Panzergrenadiere. The Ausf. D was the last and by far the most frequently produced series - recognizable by its simplified, flatter body. From the Blitzkrieg campaigns in France and the Netherlands to the final battle for the Reich, these vehicles transported infantry, weapons, and supplies under fire. The nickname "Hanomag" - after the main manufacturer - became synonymous with motorized infantry of the Wehrmacht.
