    Product details

    Background & context

The tank was named after Kliment Voroshilov, and it owed its reputation to a single quality: armour. In 1941 German anti-tank guns bounced off it, which let many a crew at a roadblock hold the front for a whole morning. The price was a weight of around 45 tonnes, a stubborn gearbox and mediocre vision to the outside. The KV-2 took it to the extreme: a towering box with a heavy howitzer, intended for demolishing bunkers but a wobbly giant across country.

    On the tabletop

The kit builds either a KV-1 or a KV-2. In Bolt Action the KV-1 is a heavy tank for Soviet armoured platoons, thickly armoured all round and hard to knock out, with an anti-tank gun in the turret and machine guns against infantry. The KV-2 carries a heavy howitzer in its tall box turret and fills a tank destroyer slot in the platoon. The six infantry figures on the sprue form a squad of tank riders that travels on the hull.
