Background & context

The first winter before Moscow in 1941 caught the Wehrmacht without winter equipment; the men fought in greatcoats, gloves and whatever they could scrounge for themselves. Only after that did reversible jackets, fur caps and white camouflage covers reach the front in any real numbers. The wool greatcoat nevertheless remained the defining image, on the Eastern Front as in the Apennines and in the Ardennes in 1944. That is exactly the image these figures serve, from the campaign in France to Berlin.

On the tabletop

In their woollen greatcoats these 30 grenadiers suit any winter front, from the first winter before Moscow in 1941 through the Italian Apennines to the Ardennes in 1944. Weapons and headgear let you build them for every phase of the war from the Blitzkrieg to Berlin in 1945, as Heer or Waffen-SS. The options are Kar 98K, Gewehr 43, StG44, MP40, MG34 and MG42. The machine guns carry a squad's firepower, a Panzerfaust lets a rifleman fight back against vehicles, and command models are included.
