    Hintergrund & Einordnung

The Battle of Stalingrad, fought between August 1942 and February 1943, is considered one of the most decisive turning points of World War II. Months of street fighting transformed the city on the Volga into a landscape of ruins, where every building and every ruin became a fortress - Wehrmacht soldiers coined the term "Rat War" for this. German troops of the 6th Army under General Paulus pushed deep into the city but were encircled by the Soviet counter-offensive "Operation Uranus" in November 1942 and forced to surrender in February 1943 - around 91,000 survivors became Soviet prisoners of war. The Barmaley Fountain with the dancing children became a symbol of the war through a famous photograph taken during the bombing in 1942. The defeat at Stalingrad marked the beginning of the Wehrmacht's strategic retreat on the Eastern Front.

    Einsatz im Spiel

The set allows for an immediate start into Bolt-Action battles on the Eastern Front with two fully equipped armies. The ruined MDF factory, the Barmaley Fountain, and the resin rubble create a dense urban landscape with short sight lines and numerous cover options - ideal for intense close-quarters scenarios. The Marder III takes on the role of tank destroyer on the German side, while the T-34 symbolizes the Soviet counterattack. The Soviet sniper team is excellent for threatening HQ models and crews behind cover.
