    Background & context

    The Wehrmacht built up its firepower differently from the Allies. Instead of procuring one light and one heavy machine gun, it took the same weapon twice: on the bipod the MG 34 or MG 42 went along as the squad weapon, on the tripod mount it became a heavy MG with optical sight, barrage fire table and ranges beyond the line of sight. Added to that was the 8 cm Granatwerfer 34, simple, robust and usable at any level of training. This combination carried the German infantry from the Blitzkrieg to the last defensive battles of 1945.

    On the tabletop

    This box lets you build the support weapons of a German platoon in Bolt Action. Two weapons frames each provide an MG 34, an MG 42, an 8 cm mortar and a Panzerschreck, plus twelve figures for the crews. Mounted on the Lafette tripod, the MGs keep wide areas under suppressing fire, the mortar fires in an arc over cover and the Panzerschreck stands ready against approaching vehicles. You can build up to four weapons teams, or three teams plus a platoon commander and a Panzerschreck team.
