    Background & context

    The M4 Sherman was no wonder tank but an industrial product: easy to build, easy to ship, easy to repair. That is exactly what decided campaigns. Where the gun was not enough, numbers helped, and where even they were not enough, British pragmatism helped. For the Firefly the 17-pounder gun was squeezed into the standard turret, the radio was moved into a box on the turret rear and the loader was switched to a prone working position. One Firefly per troop was often enough to keep Panthers and Tigers at a distance.

    On the tabletop

    This Sherman covers three jobs, depending on which armament you fit. With the 75 mm gun it accompanies the infantry and fights medium tanks, with the 105 mm howitzer it shells positions and buildings, and as a British Firefly IC with the 17-pounder it keeps Panthers and Tigers at a distance. Small or large driver hatches, low or high bustle turrets and several mantlets let you depict earlier and later vehicles. Crew figures are included.
