Product details

Background & context

From 1943 the US Army hung hydraulic dozer blades of the M1 and M1A1 types on production Shermans, because wheeled engineer equipment was simply too vulnerable in combat. A dozer Sherman filled bomb craters, tore down obstacles and pushed burnt-out vehicles out of the lane without having to leave the column. In Normandy it helped against the earth banks of the bocage, in Italy against scree, in the Pacific against the cover around bunkers. Every tank company wanted one, and by no means every company got one.

On the tabletop

The M1A1 dozer blade turns a Rubicon Sherman into an engineer tank. It fits kits 280042, 280054, 280055 and 280060, and the turret still traverses. From 1943 the US Army hung such blades on production Shermans to fill bomb craters, flatten obstacles and push burnt-out vehicles off the road. On your table the dozer leads the column.
