    Product details

    Background & context

The M4A2 with wet ammunition stowage and the 76 mm gun in the T23 turret entered production in 1944 but hardly reached American units. The US Army had settled on petrol engines in the field, so almost the entire diesel production went to the Soviet Union under Lend-Lease. There they went above all to the Guards Mechanised Corps, and the crews christened the type Emcha, after the four on the type plate, which looks like a Che in Cyrillic. With the 76 mm they could at least threaten Panthers and Tigers at medium range.

    On the tabletop

Almost all of these 76 mm Shermans went to the Red Army from 1944, whose crews called them Emcha. In your Soviet force it threatens even Panthers and Tigers at medium range and fights alongside the T-34 in armoured formations. Two T23 turrets show early or late production, and sand skirts and wide duckbill end connectors for soft ground are optional. British, New Zealand, Polish or French formations can field it as well.
