    Background & context

    The M4A2 differed from the standard Sherman mainly beneath the armour: instead of a radial engine, two coupled GM diesel engines worked in the rear. The US Army wanted to supply only one type of fuel at the front and therefore largely passed the type on. The largest share went to the British, who used it as the Sherman III in North Africa and Italy; the Marine Corps took it for the Pacific islands, and the Soviet Union also received large numbers. It was built in six plants from 1942 until the end of the war.

    On the tabletop

    With its diesel engine and welded hull, the M4A2 is the Sherman of the British in North Africa and Italy, of the US Marines on the Pacific islands and of the Red Army. Depending on the front, you build it as an American M4A2 or a British Sherman III, with a low or high turret bustle. Its 75 mm gun accompanies the infantry, engages MG nests and buildings and keeps medium tanks at bay. Hatches can be opened for the included crew figures.
