    Background & context

    The Willys MB was the workhorse of the Allies: a quarter-tonner with four-wheel drive that could be got going again without a workshop. In Commonwealth units it quickly ended up wherever range mattered more than armour. The Long Range Desert Group and the SAS converted it into heavily armed desert vehicles, with extra fuel tanks, water cans and mounted MGs. British paratroopers received stripped-down versions that fitted into cargo gliders and secured communications and supply after landing.

    On the tabletop

    This jeep gives you three vehicles for British and Commonwealth forces: the desert jeep of the Long Range Desert Group, the SAS jeep or the light vehicle of the airborne troops. The heavily armed desert jeeps carry out reconnaissance and raids far behind the front, while the airborne jeep secures communications and supply after landing. For armament you choose a Browning M2, a Vickers or a Bren. Two paratroopers and two LRDG men come with it as crew.
