Product details

Background & context

A jeep was rated for a quarter-ton payload and rarely carried less. Crews strapped bedrolls, crates and jerry cans to every free spot, because the vehicle often spent days away from the supply column, and pulled a tarpaulin over the lot. In autumn 1944 chains went onto the tyres: on the sodden tracks of Lorraine and the Hürtgen Forest, and later in the snow of the Ardennes, the narrow tread found no grip without them.

On the tabletop

Four wheels with snow chains and loads under tarpaulins equip your Willys MB for mud and snow. One covered load goes on the bonnet, one in the rear and one in the trailer, while the chained wheels replace those from the kit. Because jeeps often ran for days without a supply train, crews strapped everything to the outside and pulled a tarp over it. The jeep and trailer are not included.
