Background & context

Das Birkenrindenkanu war kein Beiwerk, sondern die Verkehrsinfrastruktur des Waldlands. Ein Boot trug mehrere Männer samt Vorräten, wog aber wenig genug, dass man es an Stromschnellen um die Untiefe herumtrug und dahinter wieder einsetzte. Über dieses Netz aus Seen, Flüssen und Tragepfaden legten Kriegsgruppen in Tagen Strecken zurück, für die eine europäische Kolonne Wochen brauchte. Daraus entstand der Ruf der Überfälle, die scheinbar aus dem Nichts kamen.

On the tabletop

A resin canoe with two warriors adds movement by water to your games in the North American woodlands in Black Powder. On lakes and rivers war parties moved far faster than European columns on foot. On the table you use the canoe to bring warriors across a river onto the enemy's flank, or to start a raid from the water in a scenario. Left on the bank, it also serves as a piece of scenery.
