Product details

Background & context

Armies move along roads, not across open fields. Napoleon's corps reckoned in days' marches along the high roads, and in 1944 the Allied advance depended on the Red Ball Express, purely a road operation. Whoever holds the crossroads determines how quickly the enemy brings supplies, artillery and reserves forward. That is exactly why a road on the table is rarely decoration; it is the line along which the game is decided.

On the tabletop

These MDF road sections take a photo-realistic adhesive print and then lie flat on your mat. Eleven straight 140 x 80 mm pieces plus four small and four large curves are enough for march routes and village streets. In Black Powder Epic Battles they represent roads, in Bolt Action rather narrower tracks. Where two routes cross, a natural point of contention appears, and after the game the pieces stack away neatly.
