Product details

Background & context

A river is the most honest border a map knows. From Napoleon's crossings of the Danube to the bridgeheads on the Rhine and the Dnieper, the issue was often decided not by the line of battle but by who stood on the far bank first. Watercourses channel lines of march, cover a flank for free and turn every ford into a bone of contention. Because none of that has changed for centuries, the same sections work for Napoleonics just as well as for battles of the Second World War.

On the tabletop

Lay eleven straight 140 x 80 mm sections plus four small and four large MDF curves into a river running across your table. The water surface comes as a self-adhesive print, so there is nothing to paint or pour. In Black Powder Epic Battles it appears as a full river, in Bolt Action as a narrower stream. Anyone wanting to reach the far bank has to take a ford or bridge, and the scenario then revolves around it.
