    Das MG 42 feuerte rund 1.200 Schuss in der Minute - so schnell, dass die Alliierten keine Einzelschüsse mehr heraushörten und vom Klang der Hitlersäge sprachen. Der Preis waren Munitionshunger und ein Lauf, der alle paar Gurte gewechselt werden musste, wofür der Ladeschütze einen Asbesthandschuh am Koppel trug. Waffen-SS-Verbände bekamen die Waffe früh und in Menge und bauten ihre Abwehr ab 1943 konsequent um diese Feuerdichte herum.

    On the tabletop

    With the MG 42 on its tripod in firing position, these three figures represent the medium machine gun of your Waffen-SS from 1943 to 1945 in Bolt Action. On the tripod the weapon was steadier than in the squad role and could keep up continuous belt-fed fire. Because of its high rate of fire the Allies called it Hitler's buzzsaw. Give the team a clear field of fire so it can stop advancing squads.
