    Background & context

    On the tabletop

In the bocage of the Vendée, where earth banks and thick hedges enclose every field, musketeers lay in wait for the Republic's columns. With 20 shooters in firing poses, led by an officer, a priest, a standard and a musician, you set an ambush behind hedges and walls in Black Powder, let the enemy come close and open fire. Their weapons came from captured stocks and the region's hunting guns. Together with the rebels armed with farm tools they form a mixed force of the uprising.
