Hintergrund & Einordnung

US airborne troops proved their worth for the first time in 1943 during the fighting in Sicily and subsequently became one of the most important elite units of the Allies. During the D-Day landings in June 1944, the 101st "Screaming Eagles" and the 82nd "All American" jumped behind German lines the night before the invasion and secured important crossings in the hinterland. After being re-equipped with the standardized green M-1943 uniform, operations such as Market Garden in Holland and finally Varsity & Plunder during the crossing of the Rhine in 1945 followed. Their battles became world-famous through films like "A Bridge Too Far" and the series "Band of Brothers".

A complete US Airborne Platoon for Bolt Action - generic setup for the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions from D-Day 1944. The plastic boxes allow for flexible armament with M1 Garand, BAR, Thompson SMG, and M1A1 Carbine. In Bolt Action, the Airborne Platoon is the typical elite infantry setup with Veteran statistics and special abilities - ideal for Operation Market Garden or Bastogne scenarios. In Chain of Command, too, the Airborne lists form their own special configuration focus.
