Product details

Background & context

The US paratroopers had their baptism of fire over Sicily in 1943 and carried out their most famous operation on the night before the Normandy landings. After that they were pulled out of the line to refit and issued with the new green M-1943 uniform, which was meant to standardise supply across the whole US Army. Equipped like this, they jumped over Holland in Market Garden and over the Rhine in 1945 in Varsity and Plunder. Films such as A Bridge Too Far shape their image to this day.

On the tabletop

This platoon shows US paratroopers in the green M-1943 uniform issued after Normandy, so it suits Market Garden in Holland and the Rhine crossing in 1945. For Bolt Action the 30 figures make paratrooper squads and command models, while kneeling and prone bodies give you riflemen in cover. Five bipod light machine guns and five BARs provide the squads with their base of fire. With 75 heads your squads look clearly different from one another.
