Product details

Background & context

From 1944 four airborne divisions carried the American elite to the Western Front: the 101st Screaming Eagles, the 82nd All American, the 17th Thunder from Heaven and the 13th Golden Unicorns. They jumped lightly equipped behind enemy lines and had to hold out there until ground troops reached them. That is exactly what made them so valuable and so costly in casualties at the same time. From Market Garden through the Rhine crossing to the push into the Reich, they were wherever things got tight.

On the tabletop

At its core this is a paratrooper platoon on foot: 36 plastic figures for the squads, 4 metal figures for the command. Depending on the size of the game you split the 36 into three large or four smaller squads, and both splits work out evenly. Three metal pieces provide the support: the heavy .50 Cal machine gun for sustained fire at long range, the medium mortar against enemies behind cover and the 57mm anti-tank gun against tanks. With no vehicle, you win engagements through cover, Order Dice and the sequence in which you activate your squads.
