    Product details

    Background & context

Union officers led regiments and brigades in a war characterized by mass armies and rapidly changing battle situations. A mounted officer could relay orders along the line, while an officer on foot stood directly with the men. Especially in static lines, clear leadership was important to coordinate volleys, formation changes, and retreats. Such models are well suited for representing local commanders.

    On the tabletop

In Black Powder every order depends on an officer, so your Union army of the American Civil War needs enough command figures. This pack gives you one mounted officer and one on foot, both standing and posed as if issuing orders to a line of troops holding its ground. Use the rider as a commander overseeing his sector, and place the officer on foot right beside a regiment in line.
