    Background & context

    Japan had seen what German self-propelled guns could do, and so mounted the ageing 15 cm Type 38 howitzer on a strengthened Chi-Ha chassis. To the front there was 25 mm of armour, to the rear the fighting compartment was open, which was bad for a crew that had to reckon with splinters and with infantry at its back. It mainly fired armour-piercing high-explosive shell, and hollow charge when required. The few vehicles built fought in batteries of four in the Philippines and on Okinawa.

    On the tabletop

    Built on a reinforced Chi-Ha chassis, the Ho-Ro carries a 15 cm howitzer and gives your Japanese force in Bolt Action heavy firepower for the final years of the war. An armour plate protects the crew at the front, but the fighting compartment is open at the rear and vulnerable to shell splinters and close assault. Keep your own infantry near it for that reason. It suits scenarios set in the Philippines or on Okinawa. A stat card, damage markers, decals and an order die are included.
