    Product details

    Background & context

A Japanese platoon consisted of three squads and a grenadier squad, whose Type 89 discharger was wrongly called the Knee Mortar by the Allies because of the posture adopted when firing it. Equipment was light, training emphasised close combat, night attack and infiltration, and in the jungle from Burma to New Guinea that worked for an alarmingly long time. Alongside them the Special Naval Landing Forces fought as naval infantry with a uniform of their own, while the Kempeitai provided the military police.

    On the tabletop

The 30 figures cover almost every Japanese infantry unit in Bolt Action: platoon commander, Kempeitai officer, medic, rifle, grenadier and engineer squads, Special Naval Landing Forces, infiltration teams, snipers and close-assault teams against tanks or infantry. The Type 89 grenade dischargers fire in an arc, and the Type 99 LMG gives the squads firepower. With the Type 92 and three 60 mm bases you can also build a medium machine gun team.
