Background & context

Als der Krieg 1792 begann, trug Frankreichs Linie noch das Weiß der Bourbonen. Diese Regimenter waren die einzigen Verbände, die etwas konnten: gedrillte Berufssoldaten, denen allerdings ein guter Teil der Offiziere davongelaufen war. Nach und nach verschmolz man sie mit Freiwilligenbataillonen zu Halbbrigaden, und mit den Amalgame-Dekreten von 1793 verschwand das Weiß aus dem Feld.

On the tabletop

French line infantry went to war in 1792 in the white coats of the royal army, and this marching regiment represents it in Black Powder. These drilled professionals were the most experienced troops the Republic had at the time, even though many of their officers had fled. Nineteen marching figures and a command group make a unit for column or approach. From 1793 these regiments were merged into the demi-brigades, so you use them mainly in the first years of the war.
