The Sd.Kfz 251/9 "Stummel" combined the proven half-track with the short-barreled 7.5 cm KwK as mobile fire support for Panzergrenadiers. Where StuGs and other assault guns were unavailable, the Stummel took on the role of direct fire support. As a plastic model kit, this set provides a complete model for self-assembly and painting.

Hintergrund & Einordnung

The Sd.Kfz 251 was the standard half-track vehicle of the Wehrmacht and was nicknamed "Hanomag" by soldiers on both sides, after its manufacturer Hannoversche Maschinenbau AG. The 251/9 variant received the short-barreled 7.5 cm KwK 37 L/24 and the nickname "Stummel" (stump) - due to its conspicuously short gun barrel. The Stummel was used as mobile fire support for Panzergrenadiers, especially when assault guns or tanks were unavailable. The vehicle carried 52 rounds of ammunition for the 7.5 cm gun, as well as two machine guns for close-range defense and protection against air attacks.

The Sd.Kfz. 251/9 Stummel mounts a short 7.5cm cannon on a half-track. In-game, it serves as mobile fire support against infantry, light vehicles, and targets in cover. It should operate behind the main line of battle, as its open and lightly armored platform remains vulnerable to counterfire.
